Heartland Cancer Research CCOP
In May of 2011, SoutheastHEALTH became a member of the Heartland Cancer Research Community Clinical Oncology Program. The Heartland CCOP was established in 2005 and SoutheastHEALTH is one of three affiliate sites and the only one in Cape Girardeau. This program helps bring the most up-to-date, cutting-edge research trials to the area, so patients no longer have to travel great distances for advanced cancer care.

Goals of the Heartland CCOP

  • Introduce newly developed cancer prevention, early detection techniques, treatment and symptom management interventions
  • Supply a broad menu of cancer research protocols to oncologists in those areas
  • Offer participation in cancer prevention research
  • Increase the public’s appreciation of the value of clinical trials
  • Collect and provide accurate data and protect the safety and rights of the patients enrolling in studies
