Southeast Hospital Displays Art for the Health of It

07.02.2014

Original artwork, created by 21 regional artists, graces a Southeast Hospital hallway in the 21st annual Art for the Health of It exhibition. In all, 32 pieces of art are on display.

Jointly sponsored by SoutheastHEALTH and the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, the exhibit is on display through Aug. 28 in the first-floor hallway between elevators A and C.

The Cape Girardeau Area Medical Society and its Alliance also sponsor awards for the juried exhibit. Taking Best of Show honors this year was Robert G. Ressel’s “The Glenn House” oil painting. Juror’s awards were presented to Brenda Seyer for “Walk in the Park,” David Hammond for “Great Egret,” Tim Buerck for “Drops” and Mary Ann Hartman for “Blue Gill.”

Southeast Missouri State University art professor Caroline Kahler served as juror for the annual exhibition. Kahler says she chose artwork which has the potential to “calm, enlighten and transform the moment.”
