collects Box Tops for Central Middle School |
Southeast Missouri Hospital helps its Adopt-A-School, Central Middle School, through the Box Top and Campbell Soup Label Collection programs.
A new bright pink collection box is located on the ground floor just outside Elevator C near the Cafeteria. Other boxes are located at HealthPoint in Cape Girardeau and Jackson. The Middle School receives10 cents for each box top donated. Schools can earn free educational equipment from the soup labels.
Vickie Howard, CMS Librarian, says every little bit helps in purchasing needed supplies for Cape Girardeau’s 600 Fifth and Sixth Graders.
“We let the students decide how to spend the money,” Howard says. “Last year, the Student Council decided to help buy big fans for the gym, a flag for the gym, and soccer nets for outside.” The money earned through Box Tops is given to the PTA to be kept in a separate fund.
Students in Middle School Classrooms also collect box tops through quarterly competitions. Last year, CMS earned $710 from Box Tops, and nearly $3,400 since the Middle School began six years ago.
Box Tops can be clipped from hundreds of General Mills and other products that include cereal, refrigerated and dairy products, meals and side dishes, frozen foods, snacks, baking supplies, storage bags, containers and wraps, paper products and disposable tableware and waste bags.

General Mills will pay Central Middle School 10¢ for each Box Tops coupon redeemed. Schools can earn up to $20,000 per year through the program.
