"When
a patient learns that he must contend with
cancer, the impact on families is as threatening
as it is to the person who has cancer.
The
lives of all those involved are instantly
disrupted. Patients
and families are overwhelmed with fear and
uncertainty.
Help with decision-making
is available from many people -- the physicians
who outline the course of treatment, the
nurses who administer the therapy and educate
patients and families, and the many other
health care professionals who serve as part
of the Regional Cancer Center's multi-disciplinary
team.
Advances in cancer care over the past
30 years have been dramatic. |
