Available are hundreds of free pamphlets about types of cancer, treatment options and support services.

Pamphlets are also placed in information racks throughout the Hospital.

Cancer Education plays an important role

Cancer patients and their families are also encouraged to use the many information resources in the Hospital's Generations Health Information Center located on the first floor of the Hospital near the Lobby.

In addition to printed resources, video tapes are available for check-out. Helpful Generations personnel are available to assist individuals in gathering information via the Hospital's Internet access.

A Commitment to Education

Offering physicians and nurses on-going educational programs is an important facet of the Regional Cancer Center's commitment to cancer treatment for the region.

Among these outstanding education opportunities is the Fall Cancer Symposium. Since 1985, the Fall Cancer Symposium has afforded primary care physicians with the opportunity to learn about the most current trends in the diagnosis and treatment of many types of cancer.

The nurse's role in the diagnosis, treatment and care of cancer patients is the focus for the annual Cancer Update For Nurses. The one-day seminar is appropriate for hospital staff nurses, doctors' office staff, home health agency nurses, community nurses, discharge planners, hospice nurses and student nurses.

For information about the Fall Cancer Symposium or Cancer Update for Nurses, call the Regional Cancer Center at 573-651-5550. The 2004 Cancer Update for Nurses is scheduled March 25, 2004.
