Hospice
in a Nursing Facility
Southeast Hospice care is available
to residents of nursing facilities just
as it is to patients residing in their
homes. The same aspects of care that are
provided in a patient's private home are
also available to nursing home residents.
Currently, Southeast Hospice contracts
with many nursing facilities to
offer residents
this special kind of care.
To determine if you or someone you know
may qualify for this special care,
call
the Southeast Hospice office at 573-335-6208
or 1-888-397-0646.
Speakers Bureau
Hospice staff members are available for
educational presentations for church
groups, service organizations or other
organizations interested in learning
more about the concept
of hospice care.
C.O.O.L. Camp
This free support group (Children Overcoming
Outstanding Loss) is designed for children
ages 5 through 16. C.O.O.L.
Camp sessions
use activities and games to help develop
youngsters' coping and communication
skills,
essential elements in successfully working
through the grieving process.

Volunteering Opportunities
A special part of the Hospice support system
is the Hospice volunteer. Besides helping
families by providing much-needed rest breaks
for short periods of time and running errands,
hospice volunteers are good friends and
good listeners to both patients and families.
A series of special training sessions help
prepare Hospice volunteers for their
duties.
