The Regional Cancer Center
at Southeast Missouri Hospital continues
a 36-year tradition of providing
the latest cancer treatment technology and
procedures. Now operational in the Center’s
Radiation Therapy Department is a Varian Clinac
linear accelerator with Dynamic Multileaf Collimator
(DMLC). This technology brings cancer care
in our region to a new level of excellence.

This is the same world-class technology found
at internationally-renowned cancer centers such
as M.D. Anderson, Memorial Sloan-Kettering, Johns
Hopkins, Massachusetts General, and the University
of Chicago. It is equipped to deliver Intensity
Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), one of the
most precise treatment forms available.
The new linear accelerator’s 120-Multileaf
Collimator allows physicians to virtually “paint” on
the contours of an irregularly shaped tumor while
sparing exposure to healthy tissue.
