The Southeast Guest House
|
Who the Guest House Serves
The availability of a Guest House facility on Southeast Missouri Hospital property is in keeping with Southeast’s role as a regional medical center committed to full service for patients and families. The facility is intended for Southeast outpatients and inpatient family members meeting utilization criteria. Eligibility is determined by the Social Services Department.
The first priority, however, is cancer patients who live a minimum of 100 miles round trip from Cape Girardeau and who are undergoing long-term outpatient therapy at Southeast’s Regional Cancer Center, (approximately 50 percent of all cancer patients are treated with radiation therapy at some point). |

To inquire about the availability of Guest House Lodging at Southeast, contact the Social Services Department at (573) 651-5549 |
The Guest House provides comfortable, convenient lodging during the course of treatment. When space allows, consideration for lodging also is given to family members of critically ill patients hospitalized at Southeast.

Guest House Facilities
The one-story housing facility consists of three separate sleeping rooms. Each accommodates up to two guests. For the privacy and security of the guests, each sleeping room can be locked.
In addition to the sleeping rooms, the Guest House features an attractive living room with a television set, a selection of reading materials and games. The kitchen includes a microwave oven, refrigerator, toaster and coffeepot. |
|
The living room, kitchen and bathroom are shared by guests. Local telephone calls can be made free of charge; long distance calls can be made by dialing zero to reach the operator and charging the call to a telephone credit card or home number or placing the call collect.
Full meal service is available at both Lacey’s On The Hill restaurant (above the Hospital Lobby) or the Hospital Cafeteria (ground floor). Costs for the meals are the responsibility of guests. Because of the volume of patient and employee meals the Cafeteria must handle, visitors are asked to dine there between 6 and 8 a.m., 12:30 and 1 p.m., and 5 to 6:45 p.m.
Guest Responsibilities
The Guest House is not staffed by Hospital personnel. Guests are responsible for the cleanliness of their room and must also be able to take responsibility for cleaning the kitchen and bathroom after using these facilities.
Linens are provided by the Hospital, and a hamper in the main bathroom is available for soiled linens. Guests should turn off the lights, television and appliances when not in use.
Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the Guest House. Violation of any Guest House policies and procedures may result in the guest losing the privilege to use the Guest House.
Checking In and Out
To inquire about availability of Guest House accommodations and eligibility for lodging, contact Southeast’s Social Services Department at 651-5549. You may dial Ext. 5549 directly from any of the Hospital’s inhouse phones. The Social Services Department is located on the first floor near the Lobby.
Two individuals from the same family are permitted in one bedroom of the Guest House at one time. If a cancer patient is a guest, a personal caregiver may stay with that patient. Guests are issued a common entrance door key as well as a sleeping room key.
Guests may come and go as they wish; and for added security, guests who would like an escort from the Hospital to the Guest House after dark may arrange for that service by calling Southeast’s Security Department through the Hospital Switchboard at 334-4822. After the Switchboard closes at 11 p.m., you may have the Emergency staff (651-5555) contact a Security guard.
To check out over the weekend or after hours, please take the keys and payment to Patient Registration located in the Hospital's front Lobby. Give the patient's name so your name will be marked off the book. Do not make the beds on the day you check out. Housekeeping staff will do this.
