Southeast’s Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine team works closely with physicians and patients in dealing with complex chronic wound care issues. Specialized services include an exam by a chronic wound care specialist, development of a treatment plan to meet each patient’s individual needs, dressing changes, instruction about correct wound care and prevention of new injuries and referrals for other medical care and services to help patients recover.
The Hospital operates two Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) complements care provided through our highly successful, long-established wound care program. HBOT is a specialized treatment that has been proven highly effective for a number of medical conditions. The number of treatments required depends upon the severity of the wound.
During Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, a patient breaths 100% oxygen in a chamber pressurized to greater than sea level. This allows significantly more amounts of oxygen to be dissolved in the bloodstream to improve and accelerate the healing process.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can effectively treat:
- Acute Carbon Monoxide Intoxication
- Decompression Illness
- Gas Embolism
- Gas Gangrene
- Acute Traumatic Peripheral Ischemia
- Crush Injuries & Suturing of Severed Limbs
- Progressive Necrotizing Infections
- Acute Peripheral Arterial Insufficiency
- Treatment of Compromised Skin Grafts
- Chronic Refractory Osteomyelitis
- Osteoradionecrosis
- Soft Tissue Radionecrosis
