Tumor Registry Monitors Followup

Tumor Registry

Southeast Missouri Hospital’s Tumor Registry is a cancer data collection system that collects data on each patient that is diagnosed and/or treated at our facility.

The original Registry began in 1974.   But with the invention of Tumor Registry software and the creation of the Missouri Cancer Registry, our reference date was changed to January 1, 1984.   We now have over 15,100 cases in our Registry.  The Tumor Registry currently follows over 4,000 patients annually.  This provides lifetime patient follow-up to monitor the success of primary and secondary treatments.  The Registry also submits data to the Missouri Cancer Registry and the National Cancer Data Base.

Tumor Board

To facilitate comprehensive care for cancer patients, a multi-disciplinary team of physicians meet the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 am in the Harrison Room.  The board reviews current guidelines for treatment and follow-up care.  Category 1 AMA, PRA Credit (1) is given at each Tumor Board.

Diagnostic departments and support personnel from Pastoral Care, Dietary, Social Services, Home Health, Hospice and Rehabilitation Services work with physicians and nurses who specialize in the care of cancer patients.
