Cardiovascular Services Department

In addition to a leading-edge heart surgery program, Southeast Missouri Hospital’s Regional Heart Center includes a Cardiovascular Services Department that offers a myriad of cardiac diagnostic and treatment options.

The department features three fully-equipped Cardiac Catheterization Labs for the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.

Cath Lab procedure at Southeast

The Cath Lab suite consists of a four-bed pre-procedure area staffed by RNs and technicians who care for patients immediately before and after procedures. In the Cath Labs themselves, cardiologists are assisted by an extensively-trained and experienced staff of RNs and technicians.

Our Cardiac Catheterization Lab procedures include:

  • Angioplasty
  • Balloon Angioplasty
  • Balloon Valvuloplasty
  • Stent Implantations
  • Laser Angioplasty
  • Coronary Atherectomy
  • Pacemaker Implantation

An adjunct to the Cardiac Catheterization Labs is the Hospital’s nationally-accredited Cardiovascular Diagnostic Services area with its full range of cardiac diagnostic testing services:

    Heart monitor
  • Cardiovascular Ultrasound

    -- echocardiograms
    -- carotid doppler testing
    -- venous doppler testing
    -- segmental blood pressure testing

  • Stress Testing
  • Electrocardiograms
  • Vein Mapping for Bypass Grafts
  • 24-Hour Holter Monitoring

Southeast’s Cath Lab is also home to the Hospital’s Electrophysiology Service. Electrophysiology studies may include a three-dimensional “mapping” study of the heart to help pinpoint the origin of arrhythmias.
