Cardiothoracic Intensive
Care
In a specially designed Cardiothoracic Intensive
Care Unit staffed by RNs with advanced training
in critical and cardiovascular care, patients
receive highly individualized care immediately
after heart surgery.
Southeast's nationally-recognized CTU is a 12-bed
dedicated unit that includes two central nurse
stations, a comfortable family waiting room, a
classroom and family consultation area for teaching
and counseling.
All patient rooms are private. |

The unit is located next to the
Hospital's Cardiovascular Services Department
and has direct access to Surgery, Radiology, Emergency
Services and the Chest Pain Center. The unit has
been recognized by the Society of Critical Care
Medicine, the American Association of Critical
Care Nurses and the American Institute of Architects
Committee on Architecture for Healthcare for its
innovative and spacious design.
From CTU, patients generally move to other Hospital
nursing units to continue their recuperation. |
| Cardiac Nursing Areas
In a specially designed Cardiothoracic intensive
Care Unit staffed by RNs with advanced training
in critical and cardiovascular care, patients
receive highly individualized care immediately
after heart surgery.
Several other patient areas at Southeast are
also equipped to provide specialized care to cardiac
patients. These areas include Intensive Care,
Medical Progressive Care and Surgical Progressive
Care. Special monitoring equipment on these units
allows staff to closely monitor patients' progress.
