health information and education opportunities
is an important part of the Regional Heart Center’s
philosophy.
Southeast Missouri Hospital is a frequent participant
in community health fairs and special events.
In addition, the Hospital sponsors screenings
at area senior centers, pharmacies and other locations.

Heart Walk
The Regional Heart Center is the presenting
sponsor for the American Heart Association
Heart Walk, an annual event which attracts
hundreds of participants. |

Heart
Healthy Poster Contest
Each February, the Regional Heart Center
sponsors a “Heart Healthy Poster Contest”
for children ages 4 – 14. In response,
over 400 youngsters from throughout the
area annually share ideas in pictures and
words about how to take care of their hearts
so they last a lifetime. Over the past 10
years, thousands of area youngsters have
participated in this contest and learned
how to grow up heart health and heart smart.

HeartSmart Screenings
Lipid profile, glucose, cholesterol and blood
pressure screenings are available through the
Generations Center and Southeast's Wellness Center.
Blood pressure screenings are free; other screenings
carry a nominal fee. These screenings are available
at the Hospital, Main Street Fitness Center in
Jackson and at community and corporate sites in
the region.
Throughout the year, the Hospital and the Regional
Heart Center work with area schools to provide
age-appropriate classroom programs on heart health. |
