Advanced Technology in Digital Imaging
Southeast introduces digital imaging

Southeast Missouri Hospital has teamed with Emageon to implement new enterprise technology that brings digital medical images to physicians when and where they are needed.

Rather than processing and carrying around hard copies of radiological studies such as X-rays, physicians at Southeast are now able to view test results on high-resolution computer screens within minutes. Electronically-transmitted images are available on line or may be extracted from a CD Rom.

Physicians may now view studies and reports securely, whenever and wherever they have access to a computer – hospital, home or office.

This exciting new capability allows on-line consultation with multiple physicians and the radiologist at the same time, with all reviewing the same image – especially important in trauma situations. Images can also be printed to use for patient education.

Features of Southeast’s digital imaging give physicians the ability to flip, reverse, rotate or invert images, move images around on the screen and magnify specific areas.

The new system, the first in this community, allows for faster diagnosis and initiation of patient care. It also eliminates the disadvantages of conventional film such as damaged or lost films.
