When
it comes to patient care, we rate among the top
in the nation, as affirmed by our designation
as a prestigious Magnet™ organization.
We've raised the bar on healthcare delivery,
and we're proud to say that our nurses are members
of a respected, elite group. Magnet™ status
is tough to attain...because our patients deserve
only the best.

State
Magnet Recognition
In 1990, the Missouri Nurses Association
recognized Southeast Missouri Hospital as a Magnet
Hospital for our managment practices that promoted
quality patient care and contributed to the satisfaction
of registered professional nurses.
At that time, we were recognized
as one of five Magnet Hospital in Missouri that
provided an exemplary healthcare environment.
National Magnet
Recognition
This National Magnet Recognition
Program was developed by the American Nurses
Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of
the American Nurses Association, in 1994 to recognize
health-care organizations that provide the very
best nursing care
|
The
National program was created to help divert the
national nursing shortage. Research was conducted
to determine
the "forces of magnetism" in the 1980s
that enabled hospitals to keep good nurses. Today,
research proves that Magnet organizations attract
and retain outstanding nurses.
Gold standard in
nursing excellence
Magnet designation,
nursing's top honor, is accepted nationally as
the gold standard in nursing excellence.
To achieve Magnet status, organizations
must apply to the ANCC and undergo a vigorous,
multi-faceted evaluation. The standards are tough.
As of Summer 2004, less than three percent of
the nation's hospitals had qualified for Magnet
designation.
Four-year honor
Magnet status is
awarded for a four-year period, after which
the organization must reapply. |
