Additional Neuroscience Technologies
Southeast Missouri Hospital's Regional Brain and Spine Center provides a variety of additional technologies that offer patients the latest care close to home.

Vagus Nerve Stimulator

For the more than 20 percent of individuals who do not show improvement in seizure control with medications, the vagus nerve stimulator, a small implant often called a "pacemaker for the brain" may mean the difference between a chronic debilitating condition and a relatively normal life.

Southeast's Image Guided Surgery (IGS) System is the same as IGS systems at major metropolitan hospitals, including Johns Hopkins, Barnes, Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York and UCLA.

Neuro-Navigational System

Southeast neurosurgeons perform complicated and delicate surgeries to remove brain tumors and other abnormalities in the brain using a new wireless Image Guided Surgery (IGS) System. This sophisticated system allows the surgeon to use precise detail in performing delicate neurosurgery, and often times means less surgery time for the patient, smaller incisions and quicker recovery.

Vertebroplasty

Individuals with painful compression fractures of the spine may find relief with vertebroplasty, a minimally invasive procedure performed in Southeast's radiology department.
