Support Services for Patients
In Southeast's Emergency Services, a fulltime staff of physicians deliver rapid, around-the-clock neuro trauma and neuromedical care. Southeast's Advanced Cardiac Life Support-certified and trauma-trained staff also includes registered nurses, trauma nurse specialists and other EMT-trained personnel.
Acute Care treatment rooms include sensitive cardiac monitoring and oxygen equipment at the bedside. In the Major Treatment Room, a built-in x-ray unit allows for full body x-rays without moving or turning a critically injured patient.
Services for Stroke Patients
Certified by the Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center
Services for patients recovering from stroke include speech therapy and a computerized adaptive communication center; physical therapy to work on gait, balance and coordination; and occupational therapy that focuses on activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, cooking and fine motor skills involving the upper extremities. These services, offered in the Hospital and at Southeast Outpatient Rehabilitation Services, are designed to help individuals regain as much normal function as possible.
Home Health Services
Neurological patients in need of further care after discharge from the Hospital and who qualify for home health care, may receive services through Southeast Home Health. These include skilled nurse visitation, home health assistance, physical, speech and occupational therapy and medical social work.
The Social Services Department provides resource information to the neurological patient. These resources include assistance in locating services in the community such as rehabilitation, extended care and transportation services.
Meeting the spiritual needs of patients and their families is an integral part of overall patient care at the Southeast Brain & Spine Center. Southeast's Pastoral Care staff is readily available to offer emotional support and assistance.
