If things had gone according to plan, Glenn and Tonya Pobst of Sikeston would
have been at the Show Me Center May 17 where Tonya, a teacher at Scott County
Central Elementary School, was to receive her masters degree in Elementary
Education.
But Tylan Pobst had other plans. Tylan, Glenn and Tonya's second
son, was born that morning at Southeast Missouri Hospital - nearly a month
sooner than expected.
"We had a feeling Tylan might come early, but not quite as early as he
did," said
Tonya who found herself holding a new baby instead of a diploma that day. "I
eventually received my diploma to go along with my very precious graduation
gift!"

Tonya spent years studying to
earn her masters degree; but after the birth
of her first child at Southeast in 2001, her
decision to deliver Tylan at Southeast required
no study at all. "We had an excellent experience
when Drayton was born two years ago, and we received
excellent care again this time," she said.
"The nurses at Southeast were
all very helpful, and we felt very safe and secure
in their care. It also meant a lot to me that
the Hospital has certified lactation consultants
and
provides mother-baby home visits." Just as
Tonya has been mastering the art of motherhood
and elementary education, the nurses and other
health care professionals at Southeast's Dennis
B. Elrod,
M.D., Obstetrics and Gynecology Center have mastered the art of mother/baby
care.
As a teacher, how would Tonya rate Southeast’s
Obstetrics Center? "Most
definitely an 'A'!" |
