Theresa "Michelle" Wescoat
and her family drove 50 miles to Southeast Missouri
Hospital for the birth of their second daughter.
The New Madrid mother chose Southeast because
of the high level of care and security.
"I had a good experience when my first daughter
was born here two years ago," she said. "This
time, I had a planned C-section and everything
went perfect from start to finish. The nurses
were amazing." |
The Hospital's birthing center
had changed dramatically from several years
ago with
the completion of a $4.3 million redesign.
"I love the private room and the fact it's
so family oriented," she said. Theresa "Michelle"

Wescoat's stay became a real family affair. On
the day she was released from the hospital, her
sister-in-law, Abbie Cooper of Sikeston, was also
at Southeast giving birth to a daughter.

Phyllis Wescoat of New Madrid,
grandmother of both babies, spent a lot of time
traveling back and forth between LDRP rooms.
"All six of my grandchildren have been born
at Southeast," she said. "Southeast
has a very good reputation for delivering babies."
Just over 48 hours after dark-haired Emmie Theresa
Wescoat was born, her blonde-headed cousin Carson
Alice Cooper was welcomed into the world.
Abbie and her husband, Andy Cooper, returned
to Southeast after a good experience during the
birth of their son, Andrew, four years ago.
They praised the spacious LDRP rooms and said
their son enjoyed the VCR and video library.
LaDonna Wills, BSN, RNC, CNA, said Southeast has
always drawn expectant parents from a wide region
in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois.
As nurse manager of the Generations Family Resource
Center, she oversees the childbirth preparation
classes.
The Saturday childbirth classes are particularly
popular with families who travel long distances,
she said.
All childbirth preparation classes are offered
without charge. The three instructors combined
have more than 40 years of maternal child nursing
experience.
"Southeast has a good reputation when it
comes to delivering babies," said Wills.
She often hears expectant parents praise the the
doctors with OB privileges and the expertise of
Southeast's OB staff..
